Travel Personal Time
Will your travel include personal time?
Travelers sometimes combine business and personal travel, either by adding personal days at the business location or by traveling to other destinations. When combining personal travel with UO business travel, please note the following:
- payment will be based on the least expensive and reasonable means of transportation to the business location
- payments for per diem and/or reimbursement for any travel expenses are not allowed on personal days
- generally, the dates of the conference or meeting and one travel day before and after are allowable for reimbursement. Any additional days paid by the UO must be documented with a business purpose
- a Comparison Quote, generated in advance of travel, is required. See below for information.
A Comparison Quote captures what the cost of airfare would be if no personal days were to be included in the itinerary, either by excluding additional locations and/or additional days from your itinerary. This information is best captured when your UO Travel Agent is coordinating your airfare itinerary, so please be sure to indicate that your travel will include personal time on your Concur Request and inform the Travel Agent you are working with so they can generate a quote at the time of purchase. The Travel Agent will provide the Comparison Quote to the traveler and the Dept. Travel Coordinator and this will be included on the Concur Expense Report during the reimbursement phase of the travel process.
