Allison Blakely, National Humanities Council Member

One of our most successful graduates, Allison Blakely (BA History, 1962) went on from the University of Oregon to graduate studies in history at Berkeley, where he earned his Ph.D. Blakely taught for thirty years at Howard University and since 2001 at Boston University. Over his long career, Blakeley has published many books and articles, including Blacks in the Dutch World: The Evolution of Racial Imagery in a Modern Society (2001). President Obama appointed Blakely to the National Humanities Council in 2010.
