Professor Andrade is on leave in 2012-13 while he holds a membership at the Insititute for Advanced Study, School of Historical Studies, in Princeton, NJ.

His teaching and research interests include Greek and Roman history; late antiquity; the Near East under the Greeks, Romans, and Arabs; Greek, Roman, and later Roman oratory and historiography; early Christianity; ancient religion; and imperial studies.

His doctoral dissertation was "'Imitation Greeks': Being Syrian in the Greco-Roman World (175 BCE - 275 CE)" (University of Michigan, 2009). He is currently at work on a book, Syrian Identity in the Graeco-Roman World, to be published by Cambridge University Press.
