Alumni and Friends of the History Department
Recently, we lost a dear and long serving colleague, Bill Toll, who was an instructor in the Department of History for many years and a vital contributor, both to the curriculum in history at the University of Oregon and to the Judaic Studies program. Our colleague in Judaic Studies, Deborah Green, has written a memorial to Bill, here. We will all miss him greatly.
Welcome! We are always glad to be in touch with the many friends of the Oregon History Department. We hope you will explore these pages to find out more about what we have been up to lately. You will find news about new courses, current versions of old favorites, announcements of department events, and information about our distinguished faculty’s research and publications. Our extended community is broad. Whether you are a History major who has graduated, a former graduate student, or a friend of the department, we hope you will keep in touch. Please send your news to me at email@example.com and we will begin building an alumni news page for our website.
On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to emphasize how grateful we all are for the generous support that our friends and alumni provide. Your contributions make it possible for us to continue doing the things you know us for: offering undergraduate scholarships and awards, sponsoring public lectures, supporting research by graduate students (new historians in the making), recruiting and retaining a dynamic faculty, and much more. If you would like to learn more about how you can help, please visit our “Supporting the Department” page.
